Hi JooYoung.

Good that you looked at the description file. I looked at it too for the package dependencies listed under Imports, Depends, and Enhances.

Yes, by all means, copy me in on your contact with the maintainer of RQDA.

Jonathan

  Hello Dr. Godfrey,

  Thank you for your advice.
I have downloaded the RQDA source code from https://github.com/cran/RQDA and took a look at whether it had any vignette.
Unfortunately, however, it did not seem to contain any vignette.

I am not sure whether it will be of any help, but I am copying and pasting the description information into the below:

Package: RQDA
Type: Package

Even though my Java Access Bridge is activated, the RQDA GUI is not accessible.
Would you mind if I CC you when I compose an email to the developer?

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

  Best regards,

  JooYoung

Hello JooYoung

I wanted to check this one out for you so I downloaded the CRAN version and installed it. Unfortunately, the library() command failed while running R in a terminal. A development version might work better, but I'm disappointed the install.packages() worked but library() did not because to me it suggests the CRAN check process has not caught this problem.

I was hoping to find out which functions were useful in a command line or script file way of working. You might read any vignettes you can find or contact the package maintainer to ask about any vignettes in development.

I can tell you that the tcl/tk package creates menu items that are accessible but the menus open dialogue boxes that have proven not to be accessible. Other (newer) packages that develop a GUI have also proven less than fully accessible.

Having said that, if a package has a vignette, then it must have been made in a non-GUI way of working so the functionality therein must be suitable for blind users.

Let us know how you get on.

Jonathan

Subject: [BlindRUG] Qualitative research using R: RQDA package

  Hello,

I am in the situation where I have to conduct qualitative research. Since I am an R lover, I googled to see if there exists any qualitative research-aid R package and found RQDA (R package for qualitative Data Analysis).

Unfortunately, however, the package GUI window was not accessible when I tried it with my JAWS 18 screen reader and latest NVDA.

Could anyone help me to use this package? If it is not accessible for some reason, I want to post an issue request, but I have no idea about how to technically address it.

The package can be found here: http://rqda.r-forge.r-project.org/

Many thanks in advance!

  Best regards,

  JooYoung
