[Blindtlk] gross but what do I do?

Hi Connie. Nothing whatsoever is disturbed about one's upper and lower
eyelids. They retain total feeling just as they were before. Of course
since there is the plastic eye shell underneath, you would feel the
hardness of the plastic from behind the lid but you can feel all touch
sensations. You sure have gotten some curious responses (I don't care
what I look like -- or something like that?)

I know this is a strange question, but I have always been curious
about it. I do not have prosthetic eyes, and this is why I ask. Is
there enough feeling in the skin which I assume overlies the
prosthesis so that you can apply eye shadow, eye liner and mascara on
your lashes. I take pride in the way I look, as it unfortunately is
how we are judged, and I would never go out in public without
makeup. This may be offensive, and if so, I am sorry, but applying
makeup correctly is very easy, and I think more blind women should do
it. It enhances natural beauty and I have broached this subject with
several people I know. Their comments have astounded me. "I can't
see it, so who cares" was one of them, or "who cares what I look
like" was another comment. Sorry to go on about this and I really
hope I haven't opened a can of worms, but I really am curious. It is
such a simple task to learn.
