[Blindtlk] gross but what do I do?

Hey Connie,
I am with you. I keep Mary Kay in business. (smile) Sometimes there are days when I am tired and start to think, "I don't' feel like makeup today." Then I chide myself to get back in there and put my makeup on. (smile)
Unfortunately, I personally cannot use eye makeup. Because of the blunt radiation treatments that I had as a child, my eyes are misshapen and are not attractive at all. One of my eyes actually has eyelids which are deformed and kind of turned under, so there is really nothing there to put makeup on. So I wear the classic sun glasses look to improve the appearance. I have started to shop for the pretty/decorative glasses though, as opposed to the black "blind" glasses. But others with artificial eyes don't have these problems, and can, in fact, have eyes which are very attractive. So they could certainly wear the eye makeup.
I'm not as diligent with the lip color as I should be, because Mary Kay isn't yet making a long last lip color, and it is a hassle to keep reapplying it. But whenever I leave the house, unless it is just a quick trip to the grocery store or something like that, I have foundation and blush on.

I know this is a strange question, but I have always been curious
about it. I do not have prosthetic eyes, and this is why I ask. Is
there enough feeling in the skin which I assume overlies the
prosthesis so that you can apply eye shadow, eye liner and mascara on
your lashes. I take pride in the way I look, as it unfortunately is
how we are judged, and I would never go out in public without
makeup. This may be offensive, and if so, I am sorry, but applying
makeup correctly is very easy, and I think more blind women should do
it. It enhances natural beauty and I have broached this subject with
several people I know. Their comments have astounded me. "I can't
see it, so who cares" was one of them, or "who cares what I look
like" was another comment. Sorry to go on about this and I really
hope I haven't opened a can of worms, but I really am curious. It is
such a simple task to learn.
