Hi Kerri,

I'm ashamed to say I've gotten pretty lazy in recent years. I now just rope my husband or my daughter into reading these things for me.

Prior to that being an option though, when I lived alone, I would just have whomever was doing the shopping with me, usually an assistant from customer service at the given store, to read over them very briefly. I would then just commit them to memory until I got home, as they wouldn't have time for me to take extensive notes there. I was much younger then though, and I'm sure my memory wouldn't adhere to that style now.

National Braille Press used to have a book of all of the Betty Crocker packaging directions. (At least I think I got it from NBP.) I don't know whether they are still printing that or not.

I haven't looked at the site yet, but I'm betting it will be a Godsend as well.

I just checked this website out and absolutely love it! I have had
hamburger helper in my cabinet forever, and haven't had the directions
read to me. I just looked up hamburger helper on this website and 5
pages with 20 results on each page returned! This website is going to
be awesome and I see myself using it a lot.

I do have a question related to this though. How do most of you who
are totally blind get the directions off of packages? Do you have a
shopping assistant read the directions to you and you either record it
or take notes? This getting proper directions off of packages has been
a real problem for me at times and though this website is nice I'm
wondering what the best, most proficient way is and how many of you do
it just in case my computer/internet are down or the particular
product I'm looking for doesn't happen to be on the website!
