[Blindtlk] Fw: [Nfbf-l] Erik Weihenmeyer on ExpeditionImpossible

I hope many of you will remember that we were a major sponsor of his and
while he gave us some credit, he has not joined with us, nor do we figure
prominently in his presentations even though we got a lot of flack for
promoting something so dangerous for a blind person. We are proud of what he
did and proud to have played a part in it, but I don't think we'll be paying
a lot of money to have him come or guaranteeing him anything. My guess is
that you should talk with President Maurer sooner rather than later.

Well also wants to make sure that he is high on the agenda, from what I
understand. Right now we are just getting over this convention. The Braille
Monitor for the Convention hasn't even come out yet from Orlando, which
comes out in September.

I have no idea what kind of Agenda yet, and I am sure that the National
Office doesn't either.

Here is from the e-mail his father sent me.

" Our major concern is that Erik, a prominent international speaker, be
given a place in the program which will maximize both attendance and impact
on attendees. We would want to be certain that Dr. Maurer enthusiastically
supports the invitation, that there are no competing sessions, and that it

comes at a time when attendees actually are in their seats."

Now before I even this information to Dr. Maurer I am speaking with my
Chapter President on the issues.

It might seem wonderful to have him, but at the same time, he is an
international speaker, and I don't think that this is something with the
Agendas we have at convention that it could be fitted in. But at the same
time, I had contacted him for the travel and tourism division as a guest
speaker, if he could come then I would forward his information to Dr.
Maurer.

Working on the Workforce Bill at this time, the main focus is on that,
again, I will be forwarding this information as soon as I can.

Sincerely,

Leading the Way in Independent Travel!

Cheryl Echevarria
