Cindy:

Again, he has used his fame and newly found fortune for others and not just
blind people.

But, just because someone doesn't mean they have to be part of the NFB, we
are blind as you mentioned and we do things everyday as blind people who
have little things in life that make things better for others.

I have done many things since losing my vision that I would have never done
when I was sighted, I was a person who never spoke in public or had
confidence in myself, and always stood in the back of the crowd.

Being part of this great organization and reading about such people as Dr.
tenBroek and Dr. Jernigan and hearing and meeting Dr. Maurer, having mentors
like my dear friend Ed Bryant, who we had so much in common from being
diabetic and kidney transplant patients, becoming in touch with David
Stayer, who has been a friend and mentor, to being the treasurer of our long
island chapter, to getting a guide dog, and speaking at conventions and
knowing so many of you, has helped.

This has also helped me in speaking about blindness and our NFB philosophy,
to help me grow as a person period, and some have called me there mentor,
and someone to look up to including the people closest to me, as well as the
sighted.

So Cindy I know my accomplishments and what I want to try and do in the
future, but the point and/or reason to contact him in the first place was to
see if he would consider it, he has, and he has used his celebrity on other
ways as well.

I have been following people my whole life even before losing my vision on
people who have had made such accomplishments in the world without the ways
people without being disabled take for granted.

My hero all through school was Helen Keller, I lost my vision in 2001 so I
was way out of school when I lost my vision, Ray Charles, Louis Braille, and
yes I knew who Dr. tenBroek was before knowing the NFB, knowing that these
people and others not a famous have done for the blind community.

I hope one day that I can put into words what I have done with my life and
encourage others, just to think out of the box.

That is why on our talk list with the travel and tourism, it isn't just
about being in the travel profession, that is for the Entrepreneurs Division
or Jobs, or Merchants Divisions, this is for all who travel and enjoy it. I
even put things up on the list for people to think about that aren't blind,
like stories about access for blind who are deaf and/or in wheelchairs, etc.

Getting to long winded, but you all get my meaning.
