[Blindtlk] Convention in Orlando for 5 years

Hi Sherri. My take is that I always found it strange that we would have the
highlight activity of our convention be on Thursday evening and then find so
many people leaving on Friday when we did the work of getting our Washington
report, reviewing our financial statements, and then adopting resolutions
which should be the policy statements for the whole organization. The way
it is now has problems, but at least when we are adopting resolutions, the
full body is in attendance. We leave with the uplift of the banquet speech
in our minds, rather than the last impression being the kind of slow day we
had on Friday.

My take on the Wednesday half-day tour is probably jaded because I've been
on the Scholarship Committee for a while and it was that day we used to pick
the awards and scholarship winner will win. At least now I get a tour they
if I decide to stay over. My wife and daughter are staying until Wednesday,
and it is a big deal for us to have a vacation. We're off today to
Universal Studios to see whatever they've done for a Harry Potter theme
Park.

Warmly,

Gary

Subject: [Blindtlk] Convention in Orlando for 5 years

It was announced at the convention that conventions from 2013 through 2017
will be held in Orlando. I wish we could extend the length of the convention
back to how it was and NFB would organize tours for Wednesday afternoon.
That way, people could get excited about Orlando and have time to go places.
I liked the old schedule much better. If we are going to keep people here
for five years in a row, we need to give them ample opportunity to take
advantage of all there is to do in Orlando. Besides, I like the banquet the
night before the last day of convention.
