Cheryl,

I suspect, being an NFB history buff myself; and, having listened carefully
to the tapes of the conventions of that error, that I can answer your
question. However, I would refer you instead to "Walking alone and Marching
Together", which can be found on the NFB web site. Particularly, chapter
three of that work. It will give you shocking details of exactly what
happened, who said what and why. Also, some evidence is to be had from the
recordings of the 1957 NFB convention. Toward the end of that set of tapes,
some controversiy can be heard regarding the make up of the resolutions
committee. Listen carefully to the exchange recorded and you'll be able to
see some of the beginnings of the trouble. When some individuals felt that
they were slighted [regected] by the leaders of the federation or by the
federation itself for positions of high leadership in the organization, fuel
was added to the fire. Even so far back as 1956, this trouble had the first
inklings of a beginning.

Copyright reasons forbid me from quoting any of the book itself; but, I
offer a direct link below.

Walking Alone and Marching Together: A History of the Organized Blind
Movement in the United States, 1940-1990

there would not be an ACB organization.

we have in government both democrats and republicans, plus all the other
parties, but in the long run many of them are friends and try to do good, we
don't bash them.
