[Blindtlk] The Green Briar Resort

I don't know. Wouldn't that lead people to say we had a bunker mentality?

Chris, if you're unfamiliar, The Green Briar Resort long held a major
national security secret: Underneath the resort was a huge complex, a
small underground city really, built in secret and made to withstand
a nuclear weapons attack. If ever attack were imminent during the
Cold War, Congress, the President, and other high-ranking officials
as well as aides, service providers, and others with insanely high
top security clearance were to be moved immediately in immediately
and the doors bolted behind them.
In the event of the United States being wiped off the map, our
government leaders would survive. They probably thought they were
preparing to save the best and the brightest to rebuild. Personally
I figure if Congress represents the best of America, we're doomed.
*grin*
This stuff is now open for tourism. Either the government has a new
facility, or they believe they no longer need one. Peter's right, it
would make a cool place to have convention, though I doubt we could
ever afford it. Having the general session in the bunker would be
pretty cool, though!
