Hi Ashley and all.

Ashley, you posted to the NABS list a couple days ago asking for
some information on the Technology Bill of Rights. Being that I
was at the LAW Program, I emailed Lauren McLarney, one of the
government affairs specialists at the NFB and asked her to send
me the draft language and fact sheet we got at the LAW Program in
hardcopy Braille. She is a great resource for you (from personal
experience) and, as you can see in the email, would be happy to
help you in your making the ask to your Congressman. Attached is
the information, and below is the email she sent. Her email, by
the way, is: lmclarney at nfb.org. I would strongly suggest
emailing her. To all the other members of the lists, I hope
you'll find this information useful. I'm sure if any of you
would also be interested in talking to your member of Congress,
you can email her too.

Hi Chris,
Good to hear from you! And VERY glad to hear that somebody is
taking the initiative to talk to their Member of Congress about
the Tech bill! Attached is our draft language (although we are
in the middle of making a few more changes to it). Also attached
is a one pager that serves as a better fact sheet for individual
meetings than the one we used during the LAW program. The fact
sheet used at the law program (which is our official tech bill
fact sheet) can be found here:
http://www.nfb.org/images/nfb/2011-01%20Technology%20Bill%20of%20
Rights%20Fact%20Sheet.doc. There is not anywhere online where
one can find the draft language because that is more private,
inter-office type of thing. We don't want to make "draft"
language public because it is just that, a draft.

If you want (or she is okay with this), you can tell me the name
of their Member of Congress and I can help them prepare for it.
I'd be glad to talk with the person quickly before the meeting,
maybe help make the "ask" as personalized as possible. Anything
you need. Thanks again for getting in touch with me and helping
her out!

Hi, Lauren.

This is Chris Nusbaum, one of the students at the LAW Program.
I'm on the National Association of Blind Students (NABS) email
list serve. One of the other people on the list asked about the
Technology Bill of Rights. She wants to talk to her member of
Congress (yea, active Federationist here) but she wants to know
everything she can about the bill before she does. So, can you
send me an email with an electronic copy of the fact sheet and
draft language for the bill that was handed out to us at the
program (if you have one available) or a link to a site where you
can get that information (if there is one?) I'd like to send it
to some people, including the NABS list, so they can get all the
information and can be active in advocating for the bill. Also,
is there a way (like a Web site) where you can get the printed
copy of the information that they can give to their
Congressperson, if they can't just print out the document? Any
help would be apreciated! Thanks!

P.S. I still have the hardcopy Braille copy of the packet, but
it's kind of time-consuming
to transcribe everything into my notetaker and email it out.
