Again, your asumption is incorrect.  Back when I first started using windows, (we're talking 2002 here), it was largely true that pdf files were an issue.  Nowadays, however, that's not so true anymore.  That file I put in was not altered by Apple either.  There's nothing in Macs that magically makes pdf files accessible which are not.  INaccessible pdf files can, however, be dealt with.  What you need to do is run OCR on them.  I did not do that in this case.
