Well, today's Monday, a good time to call Freedom Scientific if
you feel so inclined.

The virtual buffer is, I believe, the name JAWS uses for the mode
which is
used to display content in web pages and PDF documents, based on
information
supplied by Microsoft Active Accessibility and not by the
off-screen model.
On a web page, while you are in the virtual buffer, keystrokes
perform
navigation actions such as moving among headings, finding a
button, next
text, etc. When your reading takes you into an area where you
can type or
otherwise interact with a web page, JAWS can automatically switch
into Forms
Mode so that the keys no longer perform navigation functions.
The toggle
for the virtual buffer in JAWS is Insert-Z. In Window-Eyes, this
buffer is
called Browse Mode and the toggle is ctrl-shift-A.

Lloyd,
Before I upgraded my IE version 7. Things were working well.
Then for
whatever reason things stopped working. When I go to a new
webpage, it
does
start off in the address area. But using F6 does nothing to
help read the
page.
What is the Virtual buffer?
I think you might be on to something.

Sometimes IE 8 comes up with focus on the address bar. Try
pressing F6 a
couple of times and see if this will bring the page into the
virtual
buffer.

Subject: [Blindtlk] an JAWS question
I am using JAWS 12. And I have Internet Explorer 8, with XP.
when I go
to
a
webpage, Jaws does not read the page. I know its there, as I
can use my
other curser modes, and it will read the page. But when in the
PC mode,
it
reads nothing. Seems that this just happened a few days ago,
before all
was
fine. I originally had IE 7, so updated thinking that was the
issue. I
have
installed all the windows updates, including all the jaws
updates.
Nothing
has seemed to work. This is very baffling to me.
Please help!
Marsha
