[Blindtlk] /Monopoly

Hi Mark,

A couple of things.
First, remember that sometimes, a frame of mind (negative or uncertain) is our worst enemy. You seem to be set on this "I hate Windows 7" mindset, and that's going to make things harder for you.
Yes, this is different from XP, and it's going to require you learning some things, but it seems you're willing to do that. Good.

I felt somewhat skeptical about a blind person using the IPhone, and now, I can't wait to upgrade to the new one. So, let's change the negative mindwet of Windows 7 and how things were or should have been. Let's work with what we've got now.

I've written Jim Kitchen, and asked him similar questions. Some of his stuff just won't work with Windows 7 or 64 bit machines. Other stuff will. I have no idea about this Monopoly.

Finally, it might be a good idea for you to invest in a bit of computer training. I don't know if where you live there are competent computer teachers who work with blind folks and screen reading software, but it seems that it would be a helpful thing. At this point, it's safe to say that there's nothing majorly wrong with the computer except that you need to learn to use it. You can also go to
Blindtraining.com
And check out with Cathyanne has in the way of tutorials and training.

Meanwhile, keep asking good questions. I teach computers, and I certainly don't have all of the answers, and I never will. I'm always learning and networking to find answers I don't have.
Positive frame of mind!
Jim

Thank you, Judy. This actually clarifies things a little more, makes them less confusing. Thank you.

Hi, Mark,

Please don't feel badly. We all started someplace - at the beginning. The first question I remember asking a tech person once I got a computer is, "My computer isn't working, where do I start?"

A URL is the address of a web site. It begins with a form of the letters http, sometimes https, then colon, two forward slashes, then most times WWW dot whatever the rest of the address is. Not all addresses have the www after the slashes, but the majority do. When you are on a web page and you want to know what its address is with JAWS you press alt D, and your machine will read it to you. Then you can copy it to your clipboard if you want to send it to someone, paste it in Facebook, send it to someone in an e-mail, whatever.

I hope this didn't further confuse you, but don't worry if it did. Keep on asking any questions.

Judy
