I have been told by some sighted friends that I am difficult to read, 
although one of these people I got quite close to was usually able to tell 
if something was wrong, whether I was talking with her face-to-face or over 
the phone, her intuition was dead on.

Personally I've always found it difficult to read nonverbal communication  I 
am partially sighted but I still miss a lot of nonverbal cues and that is 
one reason why I find it difficult to interact in groups. Interestingly, 
I've also been told that I'm "difficult to read". I suspect much of that is 
due to my failure to subconsciously learn these cues and feed them back to 
people with whom I communicate. I wonder if any either visually impaired 
folks have been told that.

I hope you don't frequently encounter situations where you are concerned 
that someone is lying to you. That would be emotionally and psychologically 
draining.
