All of that is accurate.

Acting is a good way to learn body language. I use it, consciously, and in
some cases, I can tell what others are doing. Are they nervous? Are they
fidgeting, moving more than normal? Where is the voice coming from? Are they
leaning forward which tends to indicate engagement? The voice as said
before is also a good indicator of not only if they are telling the truth,
but how engaged they are.

Personally I've always found it difficult to read nonverbal communication I
am partially sighted but I still miss a lot of nonverbal cues and that is
one reason why I find it difficult to interact in groups. Interestingly,
I've also been told that I'm "difficult to read". I suspect much of that is
due to my failure to subconsciously learn these cues and feed them back to
people with whom I communicate. I wonder if any either visually impaired
folks have been told that.

I hope you don't frequently encounter situations where you are concerned
that someone is lying to you. That would be emotionally and psychologically
draining.
