[Blindtlk] product advice

I respectfully disagree. IMO Braille support on iOS devices, while wonderful
and adequate, is nowhere *near* as good as is the support on dedicated
note-takers such as the BrailleNote family or the Braillesense family. Just
as one example, there's no word processor I know of useable on i-devices
that allows one to go from beginning to end of document with one keystroke
on the Braille keyboard nor can one easily search a screen, let alone a
document, for text. What *is* super-cool and makes the iOS Braille support
usable is that the cursor-routing buttons work correctly.

Bottom line: to my way of thinking, despite what techies younger than
thirty-five say, there's no way Braille support under iOS comes up to the
standard of, say, a Braille Lite (Yes, I know; people under thirty-five may
not remember them!).

I'd sell the crown jewels for a Braille Lite emulator app on an iPhone.

Note-takers ain't dead yet.

Mike

Hi,

It is my understanding that eventually note takers will become a thing of
the past. Freedom Scientific is pushing their displays, for instance, and
their Pac mate hasn't had a platform upgrade in quite a while. From that
company the Focus 14 Blue works well in the applications and devices
mentioned.
