Yep, the same thing happened to my sister-in-law.  My husband got an e-mail, 
supposedly from her, different location, but same story about losing their 
money, etc.  Very weird.

The closest thing I ever experienced to this was when I got an email,
supposedly from a friend of mine in Connecticut, saying that she and her
roommate lost all their money in a mugging in Manila and they owed their
hotel money and were literally being held captive until they could pay up,
so they desperately needed money to be wired to them.  Well, I called up my
friend, and of course she and her roommate weren't anywhere near Manila,
they were safe at home.  But apparently someone had hacked into her computer
and somehow hijacked her mailing list, so all her friends got this same
message.  I think she ended up talking with her email provider, changing
passwords, everything.

It sounds like your computer needs a visit to the repair shop. Probably
malware of some sort. Have you downloaded any new programs or opened emails
from someone you don't know?
