  Welcome to the list!

  Great to hear. Gaining independence will be extremely valuable to you in many ways.

  One thing that I strongly recommend that you do, is to contact your local vocational rehabilitation office as they will likely be able to cover the entire expense for you.

  If you are not familiar with this term, these  are governmental offices that are explicitly set up to attempt to help individuals such as those with vision loss to be able to get the resources and services necessary to become independent, successful, and employed/educated members of society.

  This is likely going to be the most valuable route to go in terms of what you are trying to achieve. And likely, it will save you the headache of and time needed for trying  desperately to get donations.

  All states have these departments and many counties/cities do as well. Thus, if you do a Google search for Vocational Rehab in your state/county you will likely get to the right office. Note that sometimes these have different names depending upon the location, so do not worry if the title is something like vision services...
