[Blindtlk] Grade 3 Braille????

Theere was at one time an actual Braille shorthand as well, and when I learned it, there was a little machine that you could write it on that had a tape that was wider than the tape on an adding machine by quite a bit. It was kind of fascinating to use. I think it might have been developed in Britain. Many more used Grade 3 though.

Hi Chris,

Grade 3 braille does indeed exists.

While I’e never learned it, it is designed to save time and paper space when compared to grade 2 as it is more abbreviated. You could think of it as braille’s equivalent of shorthand, it is often used in note taking situations.

Cheers,

Ed
