The man hasn't told you his name?  You've definitely got to know that.
Also, many people give you there email address after the second or third
email to talk without having to go through the match site.  Not everyone,
but many people do.  And yes, is possible, bring a friend.

You both bring up good points. I was thinking of asking a friend to be an
observer in the background. I will just tell him that I would feel
comfortable if I at least knew his name and had a picture before meeting.
