Some of how this works can depend upon when you last upgraded and such so it
is hard to know exactly what would be offered.  However, it is safe to say
that you will always save money by purchasing an SMA.  The only issue is
whether you want to pay for future upgrades at once to save money or not.
In your case, buying an SMA will either get you version 17 and 18 and you
would not pay extra for a version 17 upgrade, or you would buy the version
17 upgrade and get 18 and 19 in your SMA.  You will have to talk to Freedom
Scientific to see how exactly it is done.  You would not pay for an upgrade
twice.

  Thanks for the info! Just one quick follow up question based on  the
below. YOU mentioned the next two upgrades. If I purchased  the SMA with
v17, does that then mean v18 and v19 are covered under the SMA or by  two
upgrades are you meaning 17 and 18? If it is just 17 and 18 (I have 16
already so 17 is what I need to purchase) that are covered it would not seem
worth it since with the SMA the price is twice what it would be without it.

And SMA from freedom scientific will get you the next two upgrades of jaws.
In essence, you get the next two upgrades for the price of one. So if you
are sure that you intend to continue using jaws and wish to purchase
upgrades anyway; it is well worth buying and SMA.
