[Blindtlk] non 24

I have met some blind people who have a sleep disorder, so their
bodies sometimes feel tired during the day, and too awake at night.
But of course they know when to work and when to go to bed, it's just
that their bodies might not cooperate so they don't feel sleepy at the
right times.
I suspect that this disorder only affects a minority of blind people,
however. I myself have never had sleep problems of this kind.
I agree with your annoyance about the hype around this new non-24
drug, which to my understanding is simply a slightly different form of
melatonin-a supplement that's already been commercially available for
a while.
Given that there are so few totally blind people in this country and
not all totals have the sleep problems, it seems like the marketing
for this drug should focus on blindness consumer groups rather than
filling up the mainstream media with more unnecessary blindness
stereotyping.
Best,
Arielle
