[Blindtlk] Any blind property appraisers out there?

Good evening everyone,

It's time that members of this organization approach the issue of
realism
The same way we determine whether Braille is appropriate for a blind child
or if they will benefit from another reading mode. If it make ssense to
assume that Braille should be the default reading mode for a blind child
when considering careers the default should be that all careers can be done
by a blind person until it can be proven that they can't! Blind people have
sold insurance i.e. Dr. Jernigan for example, sold Real Estate, summited
Mount Everest, the list goes on. There are ways blind people can be property
appraisers. Individuals who fail to consider the default that all career
possibilities for a blind person are doable is meddling in the realism
standards of others and have bno business doing so! If you ever tried that
with us or our blind children assuming we had some you would never be
allowed near us or them ever again. We don't need people belonging to an
organization that says "Live the life you want" and then stealing the dreams
of other blind people in the name of realism.

Judy asked for help locating blind appraisers. Let's help her make
some connections instead of conduring up all the reasons why such a career
is unrealistic for a blind person. If that's not your chosen career or
calling no problem. However, you have no business messing with the standards
of realism for other blind individuals. All the best for a wonderful
Thanksgiving.

Hi,

I would think this to be a very unrealistic type of employment for a blind
person. I realize that we can do almost anything but, let's face it, we are
blind and some jobs just rely on the ability to see. I think we must teach
our young people to go for their dreams but at the same time to be realistic
and not try for things that are not possible. If this person has a lot of
usable sight, in other words, not really blind, then maybe but, not for a
total or very low partial. It is just my o pinion but as my experience of
working as an advocate for the blind and disabled I find it better to be
completely honest with my clients and not let them go down unrealistic paths
to destruction and disappointment.

Greetings to the list.

We have a client who is interested in exploring this avenue for employment.
Although we have had a blind realtor in town for several years, I know of no
property appraisers, so would love to hear from anyone with any experience.

Thanks very much.
