Hi Alana,
To delete something (like a character) while using the Apex
paired up with your phone, you have to press BACKSPACE with D. I
know it may sound confusing for new users than just pressing
BACKSPACE, but,
if you do it more and more, I guarantee you'll get used to it (at
least I did. Also, when you want to enter/send something like a
message to someone, you have to press SPACE with ENTER with dots
3-4-5-6 (the "Task Through" command) and then SPACE with E as if
you were exiting something. Again, complicated keystroke, but
something to get used to.
Hopes that helps you and any other new Apex and iPhone users.
Thanks and enjoy your week,
Sami

Hello,
I use a braillenote apex bt as a braille display with my iPhone.
It is an older piece of technology, and while it is still
(mostly) compatible with newer technologies it may not always be
so. The one issue that I have with it is a pretty big deal. If
you're using an apex bt, the backspace and enter keys don't do
what they're supposed to. This means that you cannot delete
something once you have typed it, and you cannot insert new
lines. For this reason alone, I would advise something else.
I have also used a focus 14 blue, made by freedom scientific. I
had few problems with this display but having only 14 cells was
inconvenient.
The only other display I have used is the APH refreshabraille
which was a nice basic braille display.
These are the only ones I have any experience with, hope it
helped some.

Hello Everyone,
This is cross posted. I've always wanted a Braille display and
felt I
could benefit from one. Hoever, I am quite overwhelmed by all
the
choices and yet my income doesn't mesh with the prices! I notice
that
some such as the Braille Pen and Brailleant are noted as
portable for
use with smart phones. Given that, I know folks who utilize a
BrailleNote for such purposes. Which Braille display or
notetaker do
you all recommend and why? Is their a major difference between
those
billed as BD's and others billed as PDA's/notetakers? Also, what
are
the drawbacks you notice with your favorite device?
There is a sale on the Apex, but someone recently postsed that
he was
having some incompatibility issues with web surfing with it. I
am not
sure this is worth the investment if it is becoming obsolete. I
notice
too the PK and mPower are still being sold. Are they still
supported
by HumanWare? Lastly, what is recommened for a braille printer
for
home use that is still being distributed?
I hope you all made it to the end and can give me some helpful
usable
feedback! I just want to make sure that when the dollars are
dropped
they are on the correct most relevant choice for myself.
