I use the Bluetooth ear bud with my Galaxy S8, but think the headphone jack is such a staple.

Honestly, I don’t know what advice you are getting, but it doesn’t sound very good to me. I’d go with what ever phone you want that meats your needs. True, the iPHone 7 and 7 plus have no headphone jack, but, in my personal experience, this is not anyware near as much a factor as I first thought it would be. My advice to you would be to very seriously consider getting the latest phones. Why? Simple. There will come a time when the older models are no longer being supported: and then, what will you be left with, a brick.
