[BlindTlk] braille and speak cable needed

Hello all,
I am currently using a usb to serial adapter, using windows 10, to make my
very old braille display work.
I have also run a serial to usb adapter when I was using an old braille
embosser.
I've found that it isn't so much the operating system, but more a matter of
finding compatible drivers.
In my journeys with my very old braille display, and my very old embosser
over the years, Some worked with Windows 7, but not 8. then they worked with
the first release of Windows 10, but not with updates. Sometimes, the first
release of a driver worked, then they'd release a new driver and it didn't
work.
So, I believe, if folks can find an adapter and find a driver which works,
which I believe they could, they would work long enough for them to perform
an information transfer.
It's just a matter of trying drivers, usually available on the
manufacturer's websites, until you find the one which works.
At least, that's how it's been for me.
best,
Heather

There are USB-to-serial adapters, but I'm not sure what sort of cabling
(null modem, gender changer) would be needed to get from the BNS cable to
the adapter. Some of these adapters only work in Windows 7, and don't work
in Windows 10 because of issues with fake chipsets.

Dave and All:
I never heard that a USB cable was ever made to use with the Braille 'n
Speak. If there is such a cable out there somewhere I would love to hear
about it too. I used to transfer files from the Braille 'n Speak to the
serial port on my desktop computer. Unfortunately it recently died so now I
only have my laptop which only has USB ports.

Dave
My braille and speak is about to die and I cannot
save it without a USB cable to transfer my
files. I do not have the money to replace it
with a new note taker so please help me if you can.
