I think that store clerks should help anyone. However, I try to avoid going shopping in the busiest times of the day.

Yes, and there are stores that have policies that assistants may not accept tips, it is going to depend on the store. They are making a salary anyway, albeit low, depending on the store. I just let them know how much their help is appreciated and thank them. I have ended up with some good friends that I originally met when shopping.

hi, I go to the service desk and ask for assistance, and walk down the isles with he or she so that I know what is being chosen as well as handling the items as necessary. I haven't paid the store employee I don't usually call ahead and sometimes there can be a wait time of a few minutes to get assistance but that is fine with me.
