[BlindTlk] UNACCEPTABLE! Ross Employees Refuses To Help Blind Man Shop Because Of "Policy" | The Blind Advocate

Right. And the other thing is that the sites don't always reflect the merchandise the store has on hand, and prices may vary as well.

Sure, that's great if you have that kind of a phone. If you either don't
have a cellphone, or just have a flip phone, you can't. And if you can't do
virtual browsing on a store website with your computer, you just have to go
to the store. A lot of sites don't seem to allow you to do that like they
used to. I used to get onto a supermarket's website and go up and down the
aisles looking at what was there, and exactly how the package is listed, so
I could write up my list and either phone it in or take it to the store.
But so many websites have changed, and just have recipes and tips and stuff
like that, not actual groceries you can see. And others want you to use
instacart or some one of those other things. I can't. When I get on those
sites, my computer freezes up. Pam.

If your phone has an app for the store you shop, nothing wrong with
finding the items on the phone and their prices since you'll get the
correct spelling for each item and a good idea of the price. You could
even total up the prices at home and have an idea what your shopping
trip is likely to cost at the store before you arrive.
Another good reason for doing this is blindness. I can search for items
and if they're in the inventory I may find items I had no idea were
available and because of that be able to buy those too.
