[BlindTlk] Home Owner's Association complaining about video doorbell

Sherri,

While I certainly am one who is for advocating for oneself when necessary, I am glad to hear you are working with the home-owner's association. For one thing, as some have noted, understanding the specific part of the home-owner's agreement is necessary to figure out your best approach. Also, and I didn't see this mentioned, there is often some sort of process to follow to get a variation on a policy and possibly to ask for a reversal. This is probably no longer an issue if you are talking to the home-owner's association, but it is something for the rest of us to keep in mind if we live in a condo or townhouse where there are regulations. I hope that you can resolve things quickly if you find the video doorbell to be helpful.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

I know about hacking believe me. My daughter won't own any Alexa devices,
though they did own a baby monitor. I don't think it did video but I have
heard of people hacking into those and actually speaking to the baby.

I am working with the Home Owner's Association to hopefully solve this
problem. Thank you.

Sherri

The same can be said about the Windows operating system, Siri, Android and
probably just about every other device. I do see your point, though, but the
issue is that the condo owner may not have known this and a case should be
made that this doorbell is a reasonable accommodation for someone who is not
able to see.

Language in the condo docs stating something like nothing may be attached to
any outside surface of the condo without prior arrangement. If that's the
case that certainly covers video doorbells. Those ring devices have their
own security problems having already been hacked.
