I like this since the typewriter was invented to help the blind
communicate, it got adopted by the corporates and Government once
advantages of not having to decipher people's handwriting got apparent.
Before leaving Lexington Park, MD I managed to get a portable manual royal
safari typewriter and two discoveries after that were great. First it's
possible to buy ribbons for it at WalMart. Those may have to be ordered
but are still available. Second, my ribbon has enough ink on it to last
for a while. The only drawback with this one compared to a Royal 440 or
Royal 450 is permanent tab stops. Those can't be cleared and set where
you'd like them so typing up tables can be a little bit of a challenge.
I'm not giving that machine up since even with a power outage I can still
write with it.
