Agreed that we aren’t taught true self suffiency. Fepending on staff skills , not even critical thinking isn’t fostered in my experience. My travel tracher was great at that. Others had no teaching plan, no way to test what skills you possessed when you first came and seminars were high on brainwasjing nfb speeches and little in the way of how to handle yourself outside in job setting s . I was sent on my way with unmetskills and only two staff fought for me to stay longer. I didn’t get the chance to comeback after medical issues were resolved. If you asked too manyquestions you were not wanted.

Ilove the idea of Outward Bound training! Ihave a cousin that leads those kill classes here in WI. The abilityto become homeless is very real. Homeless shelters rarely know what to o with us. A tent camping experienceis notth same. This would really foster self-confidence! Not for all assome have otherdisabilities, whelchair or Dons for example. Butteue independence is not self suffientcy but rather INTERDEPENDENCE. Ability to accept and ask for help—the social skillsod independence. All of us disabled ornot need help. Marriages go downwhen two people can’t work together: businesses fail because colleagues/staff can’t work together.

Blessings all
