Dear Stacey,

I hope you are doing well. thanks for reaching out and asking your
question.

The first thing I would do, is to try turning on the ChromeVox screen
reader using the keystroke: Control+Alt+Z. chromeVox is quite similar to
NVDA and Narrator on Windows but has some differences in how you use it.
I haven't used a Chromebook extensively but I know that the Tab /
shift+tab, arrows and some other combinations of commands you might be
used to in Windows PC will work.

The second thing I'd do is to Google "ChromeVox Screen reader." It will
yield many results from the Google support pages which might be helpful.
Pressing the Control+Slash or Shift+Slash keystrokes may bring up
keyboard shortcuts in any app you are in and perhaps the option to turn
on keyboard shortcuts for that specific app. At least, this has been my
experience using Google products such as Docs, Sheets, Slides and Gmail
in a PC.

The third thing I would do is subscribe to the GUI-Talk mailing list.
This list is specifically for technology and blindness related
questions. They can answer more of your ChromeVox / Chromebook questions
if you have more. Send email to GUI-talk-request at nfbnet.org and put
Subscribe in the subject line.

Well, that is it for me. Best of luck learning your child's Chromebook.
Happy learning and merry Christmas.

Cheers,

Humberto
