One thing I used to do all the time when growing up is, when I got a
magazine with a blank back cover, I cut those off and saved them for braille
paper.  I had quite a drawer full at one time, but they came in handy.

Could probably find it cheaper somewhere else. Could even find it in a
regular store. It's just a little thicker than regular paper. My father
would bring home paper for me from the print shop where he worked. Someone
who I worked with had a husband who had his own printing business. He would
give me paper too.
