Card stock can be used.  I've found that 60 or 65 pound weight is the best.

The Braille super Store has braille paper in 100 pound weight.  Too thick
for me, but the dots will probably last longer, but harder to punch with the
slate.

Could probably find it cheaper somewhere else. Could even find it in a
regular store. It's just a little thicker than regular paper. My father
would bring home paper for me from the print shop where he worked. Someone
who I worked with had a husband who had his own printing business. He would
give me paper too.
