Yes, I do that if it's a package not in a box. I was thinking of sealed boxes in my response. But packages in envelopes or wrapped in plastic or paper can usually be opened with your hands. Often they have a perforated tear strip that you can feel.

Hi, Madison,

I live alone, so here is how I do it. I find a corner of the package if it is wrapped in paper. That's an area that is sometimes easier to grab onto.
Then I pull and tear the paper off. If that proves difficult, or if there is string as part of the wrapping, I grab a sharp knife or scissors and cut the string that way. Once that is done, if there is not a clear opening, I again look for a corner, grab onto that edge and pull and that does the trick. If that proves difficult, that knife again comes in handy. Just cut into the top and once you have a little opening, just pull the edge of the top and there you go. Hope this helps.

Subject: [BlindTlk] opening delivery packages..

Hi all,
Whenever I get a delivery and I'm home alone I always have to wait for someone to get home to open it and this gets rather frustrating as I don't always know how long I'll have to wait and I'd love to be able to open my own packages just like everyone else. So does anyone have any suggestions/tips for how to do this safely? Look forward to reading whatever anyone has to say!! Thanks Madison
