[BlindTlk] visually impaired people not caring about personal hygiene..

I have eczema and got that from my mother. For that reason, I do shower
but not every day. Showering every day using these hygiene products
aggravates the eczema. Once a week for me is reasonable and that's
usually when I shave. I try to keep in clean clotheing though and will
change that when it's time.
I don't usually go out all that frequently since I'm in an intermediate
care retirement program and we have scheduled outings and doctor's
appointments to go to regularly.
We do have a sizeable segment of the population with involvements in
illegal drugs and eventually police and court involvements and that
segment may well have poor hygiene standards.
Usually when that happens scratch a little under the surface and you'll
find people have gone through or are going through some rough times in
their lives or in process of recovering from them.
Our employment demographics would tend to point at many not taking good
care of hygiene after having got degrees and remaining unable to find
employment though.

When I first retired, there were days where I didn't get dressed especially if the weather was bad. I do have a dog to take care of, so, once I found things to do like yoga, volunteering at our local cat shelter, going to our local senior center and knitting at my friend's house, that all changed. I always took showers even though I didn't have anywhere to go.

I worked for six years at a store in an upscale chain which would never had hired someone who couldn't have good hygiene, dress well, do makeup and so forth. It's also important health wise to keep clean and have good hygiene. It's important for mental health too and self-respect.

I don't want any greef/judgement only an answer to my question; I have very oily hair but I've been known to go more then a week without showering simply because I hardly ever go anywhere and so I really don't care what I look like/if I smell. Look forward to your answers, Madison
