[BlindTlk] Computers

If I ever buy a computer with windows on it I clean windows off the
computer and replace it with Linux. That's an operating system I can
install. Even now I wouldn't install windows since the windows keys
aren't in braille anywhere on the package or dvd and I live mostly alone.
Be my eyes is available to read windows keys but the only way I'd contact
them for that kind of help would be to install windows on a computer for
someone else to have and use. In the original poster's case, it's
probably time to buy a new computer silicone is like a battery and has a
mean time before failure of 5 years so if you got 11 years out of it the
computer owes you nothing. Best to get your data backed up first and make
sure you can restore data first.
Updates sometimes cannot be done depending on the type of hardware and the
hardware's age. If possible to do updates it's usually adviseable to do
them. Service packs I have found were the most dangerous of updates and a
laptop I had with windows on it failed to update on a service pack so that
one got trashed.
