I used to have this problem as well. I had an electric can opener for a while. If you use a hand one though, you need to find one that is easier for you to position. I have one that has a ball that fits into the middle of the can and the other part fits on the outside. It is designed to take the top off so that it is cut in a manner that allows you to use the lid for a lid. I have liked it the best as my can opener. I think it came from Home Shopping or another shopping network. I have had it so long that I don't really remember. But I would say that you should look at several kinds and see what fits your needs the best.

How do you open cans without flip tops? I am totally blind. I have a manual can opener but just can't get the position right. If I knew the correct position for opening traditional cans and I could memorize it, that would be the best. Thanks!
