[BlindTlk] opening cans

Hi, Jen,
Generally speaking, a can opener will have two wheels that roll against each other when you turn the handle. There are so many different kinds of can openers out there, it would be hard to give specific directions, but all the ones I have used in my lifetime have had the two wheels. One is going to be serated and the other just a plain sharp wheel. The idea is to have the top wheel roll along the inside edge of the can lid as you turn the handle. The other wheel is on the outside of the can.
There is a way to separate both wheels to position the top and side of the can between the wheels. The opener body should be flush with the side of the can. Many have a guide, or maybe a magnet that helps hold the can in place.
If you know the model of your can opener, ask AI for instructions.
Buut that is the basics, a way to have those wheels grip and lock onto the can so you can turn the handle to open the can.

How do you open cans without flip tops? I am totally blind. I have a manual can opener but just can't get the position right. If I knew the correct position for opening traditional cans and I could memorize it, that would be the best. Thanks!
