Also, be encouraged, once you have actually opened a can on your own, and get the mechanics of how it works, you should be able to adapt to any other can opener.  I could buy a new one at the store and have a can open in a minute, only because the basics are the same.

Electric ones are slightly different in their arrangement but work on the same principle.

How do you open cans without flip tops? I am totally blind. I have a manual can opener but just can't get the position right. If I knew the correct position for opening traditional cans and I could memorize it, that would be the best. Thanks!
