All,
After reading all the strings about the supposed  gloom and doom,  here is 
the real story. The NFB sat down with the VA and asked to do a pilot  with them 
comparing the training results between the two varying methods.  The VA did 
not respond , so we went to the  source and asked for a chance  to rehab vets 
and compare the results against the VA training methods.
If the VA methods are truly the best for veterans ,then the results  will  
certainly stand on their own merrit.
If after comparing the results  the VA methods are not the best for  
veterans,  then  I say it is time for a change , because veterans  deserve the best 
that can be found. 
Do you buy a home because someone told you it was the best or do you  
compare, shop and use what is commonly called  INFORMED CHOICE? It is  time that 
INFORMED CHOICE  was given to veterans as the norm rather than  the  exception.

Florida.

The National Federation of the Blind has  been awarded 4 million dollars to 
establish a pilot program for training  blind veterans. The president signed 
the bill in September, and we just  learned of it today. The moneys shall 
come out of the Department of  defense budget.

This may be just the beginning of the out sourcing  for rehabilitating lined 
veterans, currently being done by our BRC  facilities.
