I've also noticed that private schools have much higher expectations than
public schools. Here in NM, they wanted the kids to know their colors,
their alphabet, and how to spell their name. But my friend child went to a
private school and her child had to know the same stuff as the public plus
how to write their names and what the long and short sounds were of each
letter and of course, both private and public expected the kids to know
their nembers 1 to 10. V
