Oh, I totally understand.  I'm the same way.  My son is 9, so we've been at 
this for a few years now, and I've just come to figure out what I can do, 
and what I will have to ask for assistance with, either from my kids or 
other adults.  As long as I am confident and friendly, they all seem ok with 
me, treatint me like other parents for the most part.  There is the 
occasional person who is overbearing and annoying, but I just try to let 
them know I can handle things without being rude.  I've learned a lot about 
tact over the years. lol  It's not always easy.
