Thanks Jo Elizabeth for the recommendation!  Yes, Discovery Toys is all
about parents and kids playing together, which is one thing that attracted
me to the company in the first place.  We have cool construction kits of
different types, maze games, a puzzle book, and other things he might enjoy.
For the most part these things are accessible, or can be made so easily,
especially if you're playing with a kid who's all ready in second grade and
can, I assume, communicate pretty well back and forth with you.  Again, the

Again, I would recommend visiting Melissa's Discovery Toys site.  I'm not 
getting anything out of saying this except that I hope you might find some 
of the games as good for you and your boyfriend's son as I have for me and 
my stepson.  There are a lot of interactive maze type games for school age 
children, as well as mosaic building kits and tracks that you can customize 
and roll marbles down.  There seems to be an emphasis on the site of parents

and children playing together, so I think it might be a good place for you
