[blparent] gifts

I agree, my daughter has one at school and has always loved hers at home.
It is funny though, she really does imitate her parents, because she uses
the microwave much more than the oven, lol! I really do think something
like a kitchen is a great toy that will last for such a long time and her
friends will play with it when she starts having play dates. Dress-up is
great, but just be prepared that she might not get totally into that for a
few more months. One fun thing I bought for my three-year-old neice that my
daughter also loved is a set of Disney princess shoes. They are shiny, ugly
plastic high-heels that come in a four pack at Target. They are really
tacky, but the little girls love them because they are so gaughty and they
are just slip on. Also, they are huge on them and have a heel, but it is
amazing how quickly they learn to walk in heels. ( Anyway, they also have
crowns and stuff that are really cheap in the dress-up isle at Target.

I think she would like a kitchen at home as well as at school. First of
all, at home it would be all hers; she wouldn't have to share it with other
children as often as she does at school. Second, she can imitate you or
your husband when you are preparing food. Of course, she could also do this
with just a pot and a wooden spoon on the floor which is what Austin does a
lot. Third though, she can interact with you and your husband by "making
you" different foods and drinks in her own kitchen. This is something she
doesn't get to do a lot with you at school.
Just some thoughts. I'm sure she will love whatever you decide to get her.
Melissa

Thank you for this.
She has a jewlrey fetish... She knows where every single jewlrey store
in the mall is and loves to touch jewlrey other people have on.
I'd love to get her something shiney and beady but worry about choking
hazards.
If anybody knows where I can find something beady and shiney like a
crown or whatever, I'd get that in a heartbeat.
She does love kitchens.
Thing is, she has one at daycare, so I wonder if having one at home
would be silly.
I didn't have a kitchen growing up, and wonder if she'd like it at home
as well as school?
I know my mom won't give her one, and don't think my in-laws will
either, they'll probably stick to books and Little People.
She loves to draw. This morning she was drawing and I asked her what it
was and she said "car, bye-bye". First time she's done that.
Does anybody know what exactly you get in those dress-up trunks?

Goodness, those are all great ideas! I think it really depends on what
you think she would like the most. Also, don't forget that grandparents
might want some ideas from you about what to get her, so if you decide
on one thing maybe they, or other relatives, could get her one of the
other things.

Come on over, V, Little People are great.
So, guys, what should I get Mellie for her birthday, a toy kitchen,
princess stuff or a drum set. She's not getting all three.
She's also turning two.
Bring on your ideas, and if you have other ideas, send 'em over.

I'm coming to your house, I love Little People toys. Princess stuff is

really big here, I think Target and Walmart had an abundance right
before Christmas. Also Toys R Us, you might have to wait until they
restock. V
