[blparent] Blind Parents Meeting

Oh my goodness, that is so awful Joe Elizabeth! There is absolutely no
reason Sarah would not be perfectly safe with your hands on her the whole
time. People are so rude and ignorant it makes me so mad! I can completely
understand why you do not want social services at your door, but it is so
sad that this woman's complete stupidity is making it impossible for you to
take Sarah swimming the way you want to--like any other parent would. If
you have a deck, back yard, or patio, how about getting a small wading pool.
Perhaps you two could still enjoy the water in privacy then, and you could
save the pool for when your husband is around.
I'm so sorry this happened!
Melissa
P.S. I've taken Austin swimming since he was about 5 months old and he's
still alive and well. He's almost 2.5 bnow.

I guess I would have said, "are you volunteering to come with me everytime I
want to take my daughter swimming?" V

Sarah's father can see, and we've had one round with Social Services
already. Then the other day, someone I know saw me carrying a baby
flotation device into my house from the trunk of the car. It's an inner
tube with a seat built in for the baby's legs. Anyway, the person said that

of course, I would only take the baby in the pool if there was a sighted
person to watch. There's a pool for the condos where I live. I said not
necessarily, because if I were right there, with my hands on the baby the
whole time, I would be satisfied with that. She said she would call Social
Services if she ever saw me taking the baby in the pool by myself--which
means, I guess, that I'll only go when there's a sighted person to watch. I

don't want those people knocking at my door again.
