Hi Jen:

I have been lurking but I will weigh in on this topic as well. This is a
very personal decision and you should do what feels right to you and your
husband. My baby was a preemie and I wanted him next to me. He slept in the
basinet next to my bed for the first 5 months. I could reach over and check
on him. This worked out well for the three of us. I am also a light sleeper
and heard him as soon as he made a sound. I never felt comfortable having
sleep with us when he was small. He's 2 now and sleeps in his own room. I
keep the monitor and I can hear him just fine. Although he likes to visit
our bed in the middle of the night sometimes. *grin*

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
