Thank you for sharing. For us, this so wouldn't work, though this post
has helped me see why it would for you guys.

Subject: Re: [blparent] Potty training and eating by herself.

The motivation in using the three day method was speed and being
effective.
Don't get me wrong, it was a very long and difficult three days, but I
found
it so much better than dragging the whole process out for six months,
which
many of my friends had been doing. I also believed my daughter was
ready;
she had been playing with the potty and sometimes would do it for the
previous six months, so I knew she would be able to handle it. I would
never have done it this way or this early if she absolutely had no
interest
or if her diapers were always wet.

Like I said, for the first two days, she had accidents all day long, it
was
gross! But, by day three, she had only one accident. As with any
child,
they all have accidents here and there, like if they are washing hands
under
warm water, or if they get too busy and wait too long. But she probably
had
about three accidents per week and now, she just turned three and I'd
say we
have maybe one accident per month, and this is because she waits too
long
due to playing outside.

My philosophy is that if you are willing and able to sacrifice three
days at
home, it is really worth it in the long-run because you don't have to
switch
back and forth between underwear/pull-ups or diapers. We've even done a
couple of longer car trips over two hours and have had no accidents.
Hope
this helps explain why I did this. Again, it is not right for
everybody,
but it was right for my daughter and me and a couple of my co-workers
and
friends also swear by it.

My daughter isn't interested in the potty either save from wearing it on
her head. She'll talk about it and will sit on it but won't actually
*use* it for it's intended purpose.
I also can't think of anything I'd rather do less then spend three days
at home following them around andmaking sure they go. What was the
motivation for the person who did this other then speed? And how are
"accidents" quantified and defined using this method?
They all figure it out eventually. I have no doubt mine could learn if
she wanted to, she's just busy doing other things right now. It doesn't
bother me.

Oh boy how do you get your kid all excited when he screams no and throws
the
under wear across the room? I spent a month training my son and he did
quite
well but the more freedom he had the more accidents he made. My husband
is
home during the day so forget consistency my husband won't follow him
around
asking if he has to pee or poop. It all ended when my washing machine
broke
and he was having so many accidents I couldn't manage potty training
without
it.
My baby will be 3 August 31.

I worked with my first son for a year and then when he was 3 and a half
he
just stopped having accidents. But the second child isn't interested in
any
of it. I'm really hoping preschool will get him interested in the
potty.

Subject: Re: [blparent] Potty training and eating by herself.

I did the three day method with my daughter when she was 2.5 years old
and
though it was some of the most stressful days for me, I would do it
again
with a second child. Basically, you get them all excited for the week
before you actually do the potty training. You take them to the store
with
you to pick out underwear and you tell them up until the day, that you
are
going to throw away their diapers because they are now a big kid and
don't
need them. Then, that morning, you really have to put away all of the
diapers and mean it. Be prepared for lots of accidents. Basically,
give
them sugar free juice, water or milk in a sippy cup as much as they
drink.
If you can, confine yourself and the child into an area of the house
that
has tile floors, though I didn't because most of my house is carpet.
Either
keep the potty chair in the room with you or be close to the bathroom.
Ask
them every two minutes if they have to go potty and if they say no, make
them try every 20 minutes. Oh and when you get rid of the diapers, put
on
the new underwear that you bought them with no pants and a short shirt.
They need to wear underwear so they feel it soak through them and run
down
their legs. Every time they pee on the potty, even if they sstart to go
and
you catch them, if even just a little goes in the potty, give them a
small
treat, I used M and M's but whatever, as long as it is something novle
to
them and also something that is small.

I have very little vision, so I literally let my daughter watch tons of
TV
and followed her around and made sure she didn't go in the corners of
the
livingroom. She had tons of accidents. By day three, in the morning,
she
was peeing and pooping on the potty and I was able to send her to school
with no diapers or pull-ups. They were scheptical that she'd need a
diaper
at nap time, but she had no accidents.

She wet the bed at night for about a week and I put a pull-up on her
just at
bedtime, but she was really completely day trained with just a few
accidents
by the end of the first week.

It takes concentration, discipline and a willingness to be stuck at home
for
three days, but I did it all without the help of my sighted husband and
I
would never do it any other way, because it went so quick. There is a
PDF
book that you can download at easypottytraining.com for like $15 or I
can
send to you if you are interested.

take her to the bathroom everytime you go and put in a little potty
chair
just for her to sit on while you are on your "big potty" then she can be
on
the little one and will eventually get the hang of it.
