Yes, nail cutting/trimming is not a blindness difficulty only. My sighted
family members have horrible times doing it as well.

Melissa, I hate to tell you but even at 10 (almost) nails are an issue. V

Hello Angela,
This has been a tough one for me. I've used a nail file to just file the
nails down. I've also tried to just put Austin's fingers in my mouth and
gently bite the nails off. I have trimmed a bit with some success, but I
also cut his finger a little once so I'm hesitant to do it again. My
babysitter cut his nails once for us, but she also cut his finger...
Obviously this is not a blindness problem specifically. :) I'd be
interested in any other techniques as well, especially for getting an almost
three year old to sit still and not scream every time he sees the file. He
just hates having his nails filed, cut, whatever.
Melissa

Hi, everyone,

Okay, I have my second blind parent question to ask all of you. I
just bought a baby gift for a friend who is pregnant, and I picked
out a baby grooming kit off of her registry. And this has me
wondering, how do you trim babies' nails as a blind person? I'm
interested to hear your techniques.

Thanks so much. I am learning so much from all of you already.

Angela
