I have a really good friend that did exactly the same thing.  I thought,
"yuck." And my friend pointed out to me, that this was the best way
since she could not see the nails, but her tongue was the most sensitive
part of her whole body. I guess I had to agree and well you know, babies
hands are really clean. V

Angela, this may sound crude, but when my sons were babies, and they are
now

26 and 23 years of age, I just bit off the long nails or used a simple
emery

board. Their nails are very soft and very sharp. My rule was about
babies and still is in general the simpler the better.
